Most AI training leaves people with awareness. We wanted something different for the graduate trainees of a leading power generation company in Nigeria: practical capability they could apply to real operational work.
Five days, ten capstone groups
The programme ran for five days, with 47 participants working in 10 capstone groups. Sessions covered AI fundamentals, prompt engineering for operational tasks, AI-assisted documentation, data analysis and predictive maintenance, and workflow automation. Each group finished with a capstone project aimed at a genuine plant-reliability or operational problem.
Responding to the room
Halfway through, participants asked for project management basics, so we added a Project Management 101 session. Training should respond to the people in it, and not only to the syllabus.
What came out of it
Participants gave the programme an average rating of 4.7 out of 5, with a Net Promoter Score of 88.6. And 93% said their confidence using AI had increased significantly.
“I plan to use AI to analyze operational data, identify trends and anomalies, and present key findings and recommendations more clearly.”
